Antiquing your Jewelry
In this class you will learn how different solutions can give your jewelry an antiqued look! Turn plain brass metal into trendy antiqued brass and turn silver black! You will learn how to properly and safely use solutions to change your metal and learn different techniques how to vary the degree of color change. This technique works on metal chain and charms and wire.
Art for Asperger's
The
main goal of this eight week course is fun and the feeling of accomplishment in
producing a collaborative art project for display at a community venue. The project content and medium used
will be determined by the students during the first class. Week by week the children will work
together while tapping into their individual visual strengths and fine tuning
their social communication skills.
Artmaking as Playful Prayer
In this workshop, we explore art-making as a playful, joyous, and non-judgmental way of reconnecting with the creative self and our sources of inspiration. This six-week workshop is for anyone who wants to rediscover their own creative power and connection to the greater world.
Basic Beading
If you want to get comfortable using basic jewelry making tools, wire, and store-bought findings and beads to create your own simple jewelry, this is the class for you! With this introductory class, you'll learn to navigate the basic tools of beading and the bare bones of wire manipulation and using findings, chain, and nylon-coated beading wire to create your own beaded jewelry. We'll also talk about how to select beads and where to find them.
Basic Embroidery on Paper and/or Fabric
Learn a wide variety of embroidery stitches and techniques. Use the hip and fun patterns provided or learn how to turn your own simple line drawings into easy-to-use patterns. Basic materials will be provided, including a starter kit and scraps for practicing.
Bead Netted Collage
Take your collages to another dimension with beadwork! Make
wearable art out of found objects, paper, fabric, beads, charms---
whatever rocks your world---using woven seed beads as a base.
String a bunch of artist trading cards together as a scarf, cape, or
necklace; laminate an old photo and embellish it with beads for a
pendant; take all the old lurid pulp fiction book covers you can find
and make a hat that doubles as sculpture; invent new uses for sea
glass. In this technique oriented class, we will explore a variety
of possibilities and launch a project.
Beginner to advanced - Knitting with Plastic Bags - Clutch Purse Project!
Do you love to shop almost as much as you love to knit? This poses a problem; what to do with all the bags you acquire in your retail journeys? Candi, the teacher of this class has discovered if you take an ordinary plastic bag and cut it into strips; you can actually knit with the plastic.
Beginning Field Drawing
The class will focus on field drawing in sketchbook format. The start of the class will be a lecture and basic instruction on techniques for field drawing. Strategies and opportunities for field drawing will be discussed. Samples of various images will be provided. The bulk of the class will be spent in the field (Alberta neighborhood) where students will be asked to choose certain subjects for study.
Beginning Printmaking: Linoleum Block Printing
Learn relief printmaking with linoleum blocks. In this two-part class you will get an overview of basic to advanced techniques in linoleum printing. You will learn all about one-color cuts, the reduction method and multi-block printing. You will create a linocut of your choice, and with water-soluble inks, print with a variety of papers.
Beginning Soldering
Soldering is the rage right now, don't you want to learn how? Attend this soldering workshop to learn the basics, perfect your skills or learn additional techniques. You'll make soldered microscope slide jewelry or ornaments. If you already know the basics, you can learn about various patinas, cutting glass, and assembling multiple piece projects. You'll walk away with jewelry or great gifts.
Beginning Woodblock Printmaking
This workshop will introduce you to the simplicity and enchantment of printmaking. In this two-part class we will explore contemporary methods of relief printmaking with woodblocks. You will learn how to carve into Shina Plywood, and handprint using a variety of inks such as: Sumi, gouache, Speedball, and professional water-based printmaking inks. We will also explore the relationship of these inks with a variety of printmaking papers.
Blogging as a Way to Market your Crafty Business (101)
Blogs are much more than just online journals - they're a powerful way to build community, and an excellent marketing tool -- that is, if you use them wisely. In this class, we'll discuss techniques for building a compelling blog, attracting a wide audience, and then directing attention to your own art/craft business
Canvas and/or Fabric Stretching
Students will learn the skills necessary to stretch smaller and larger canvases (we will discuss support for larger canvases). In class we will stretch one small canvas (size can be any combo of 8", 10" or 12" bars, ie. 8X12, 10X10, etc.). We will have time to prime and sand if students wish to do so, or the extra time can be used to start additional projects such as canvas and or decorative fabric pieces.
Cut and Paste Collage
Come to this workshop and explore the restorative powers of collage. This paper collage workshop is the best way to wind down after a busy day at work. Glue sticks, scissors, and an endless assortment of papers will be provided to help guide you on a two-hour creative journey. All levels welcome.
Demo Day - Jewelry with Amanda Horton
During this first demonstration at our new Woodstock store, Amanda Horton will be sharing some of her beautiful jewelry making techniques for antiquing jewelry with eggs. Horton's jewelry combines vintage sensibility with modern simplicity with many modern and unique techniques.

Encrustations: Building Dimension and Texture
Make several small shrines or paintings, and learn a variety of ways to build up texture and create dimensional effects in the process – make molds and cast dimensional objects with PaperClay, and build up textures with papers, fabrics, and hardware store finds. Itty Bitty Pretties
Experiment with paint, paper, ephemera, and doodads by making little 1.5 x 1.5 inch masterpieces. Chipboard squares are covered with collage papers, family photos, and then embellished with bits and pieces of found objects, shells, jewels, glitter – unlimited possibilities! Each little tile is a finished piece of art and when grouped together, you have a mini exhibit!

In this class, we’ll take junk, found objects, old jewelry parts, and hardware store finds, then integrate stamping, beads, glues, and alcohol inks to create cool, assemblage-art-inspired effects. You will never look at bottle caps, recycling, junk, nuts, scrap pencils, bolts, cotter pins, bicycle inner tubes and washers the same way again - and trips to yard sales and Home Depot will take on a whole new meaning. Kid's craft night/parent's date night!
Bring your kids to Kid's Craft Night/Parent's Date Night at the DIY Lounge at Collage! Kids ages 5-12 are welcome at 5:30pm and pick them up at 8pm. We will do high quality, really fun arts and crafts with your kids while you get to go out to dinner, drinks or anything else that takes 2 1/2 hours to accomplish.

Make your own paintbrush
Handmade paintbrushes were traditionally carved of cedar or other wood, painted with natural mineral pigments and porcupine brush hair wrapped with spruce root. This paintbrush class will be an introduction on how to make your own paintbrush. This class will focus on carving a handle out of wood and on how to apply the brush hair to the handle.
Matchbox Shrines
Creating a small, personal shrine is a way to commemorate or acknowledge a feeling, goal, intention, memory, thought, idea, or even to focus on a special word or color. Shrines are meant to represent something personal and unique to you. In this workshop, you will be provided with two small matchboxes and all the materials you need to create two teeny, tiny personal shrines.
Memory Jewelry
If your best friend needs to have a necklace that features her favorite pooch, or your mom wants grandkid earrings for special occasions, this is the class for you! Learn how to turn your favorite tiny images and ephemera (1/2" diameter round images to 1"x3" rectangular images) and turn them into nifty bracelets, earrings, pendants, and even rings!
No School Art School - Go Wild! Animal Art for kids age 6-12
While the kids are out of school, Art School is IN SESSION. Jennifer Wells Design, Art Up, and DIY Lounge at collage are teaming up to offer an amazingly comprehensive art program for kids age 6-12! This camp operates as three art workshops in one dynamic day. Children participate in unique art projects, art history education, and cultural diversity, while gaining insight into themselves and the world around them. The Day begins at 9AM and ends at 3PM.

Paint-Making Series: Class 1 - Traditional Mineral Paints
The traditional paints class will focus on the history and use of traditional mineral pigments throughout the world with an emphasis on minerals that have been collected throughout Oregon and Washington.

Paint-Making Series: Class 2 - Modern Synthetic Paints
This workshop will be an introduction to the art of making paints. The workshop is in two separate classes that begins with the use of traditional mineral pigments in the first session and then the use of modern synthetic pigments in the second session.

Does the thought of taking your wares into a store for the first time make you want to hide under the bed? In addition to selling to stores, we’ll talk about events (like craft fairs) – from how to find out about them to what to bring.

Sugar Skulls: Celebrate Dia de los Muertos
Celebrate Dia de los Muertos with this Mexican Sugar Skull decorating class! Sugar skulls are traditionally made in Mexico to honor loved ones who have passed and displayed during the Day of the Dead celebration on November 2nd. Family members make the skulls then decorate them with colorful foil, frosting and sometimes the name of the loved one or trinkets belonging to them. They are then placed as offerings on beautifully decorated shrines.
