Class description:
Celebrate Dia de los Muertos with this Mexican Sugar Skull decorating class! Sugar skulls are traditionally made in Mexico to honor loved ones who have passed and displayed during the Day of the Dead celebration on November 2nd. Family members make the skulls then decorate them with colorful foil, frosting and sometimes the name of the loved one or trinkets belonging to them. They are then placed as offerings on beautifully decorated shrines.
In this class students will have the opportunity to decorate two sugar skulls (one medium and one large) with brightly colored frosting, foil and trinkets. Because of time restrictions (the sugar needs to dry for 24-48 hours), we will have the actual skulls pre-made but students will receive full instructions on how to make them at home as well as a list of resources for the materials. The atmosphere will be festive with music, refreshments and snacks!

- DIY Lounge is located at collage, a locally owned business that sells art supplies with a class space in the back. We have two locations in the Portland, Oregon area.
Visit our locations page addresses and directions. - On average we require a minimum of 3 students to run a class. Class minimums are decided by teachers depending on the needs of the class. If registration is lower, the class will be cancelled and any students who have registered will be notified via email.
- If a class is cancelled we can apply your payment toward another class registration or refund your money in full. Your choice!
- Online pre-registration is required, but exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis. If you require an exception, please use our contact page and let us know your situation.
- At least 48 hour notice is required if you need to cancel your class registration.
- Be sure to check the supply list provided in the class notes and bring those items with you to the class.
