Class description:

In this fun and supportive environment students learn to make their own ready to hang abstract paintings.  Students can choose to work from famous abstract painting reproductions (provided by teacher) or they can create their own designs.  Each student will be provided with an 11”X14” canvas and all the skills necessary to create a dynamic painting.

 

Instruction covers overview of working with acrylics, composition, basic color theory, and a demonstration of techniques and tricks of the trade.  The teacher will be available throughout the class to assist with any part of the painting process including custom color mixing.  At the end of the class students will have the opportunity to share and discuss their completed paintings. 



 

Special notes and items to bring:

sm paper pallet, glass jar for water (pasta sauce or jelly jars work well)

Read this before you register

  • DIY Lounge is located at collage, a locally owned business that sells art supplies with a class space in the back. We have two locations in the Portland, Oregon area.

  • On average we require a minimum of 3 students to run a class. Class minimums are decided by teachers depending on the needs of the class. If registration is lower, the class will be cancelled and any students who have registered will be notified via email.
  • If a class is cancelled we can apply your payment toward another class registration or refund your money in full. Your choice!
  • Online pre-registration is required, but exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis. If you require an exception, please use our contact page and let us know your situation.
  • At least 48 hour notice is required if you need to cancel your class registration.
  • Be sure to check the supply list provided in the class notes and bring those items with you to the class.
